All students at Ridgewood belong to one of four houses; Ash, Chestnut, Maple and Oak. Brothers and sisters are usually placed in the same House.

The House system provides our students with more opportunities to:

• Participate in a wide range of activities

• Encourage our students to show initiative

• Plan and help organise activities and events throughout the year

House points are achieved by participating in inter-house competitions and activities, representing Ridgewood at team events, community service, as well as academic success. They are recorded in student planners and collected termly. The students belonging to the winning house at the end of each term, enjoy a free mufti. Students who have actively participated and contributed to the success of their houses, may take part in a special end of term visit to a popular attraction. The winning house at the end of the year receives the house trophy.

Each house is under the management of a Head of House, who is assisted by a Deputy. Year 10 students have the opportunity to become House Seniors, helping to organise events. House Captains are elected from year 11.

Within each house there are 9 tutor groups which meet with their personal tutor twice a day.
