Ridgewood High School is a school where students, staff and parents work together to achieve excellent academic and social standards for all.

To achieve our mission, vision and school’s aims, we apply a set of common principles to ensure consistent behaviour at Ridgewood High School………..

Good order and discipline are essential to the provision of high standards of education. Students cannot learn, and teachers cannot teach, in chaos and disruption. At RHS we work in partnership with parents, students and each other to establish and maintain consistently good standards of behaviour.

At RHS Governors support the school in maintaining high standards of discipline.

Students and staff are entitled, at all times, to work in a safe, and orderly, learning environment to assist students in achieving their full, academic potential.

At RHS we recognise that all students are entitled to inclusion in the education service and to have their educational needs met. For a small minority of students, inclusion in a mainstream school is inappropriate and access to specialist, alternative provision, of the highest quality, will be made available.
At RHS we have agreed standards of behaviour, which are consistently applied to the school. Violent and aggressive behaviour, swearing, sexist and racist attitudes and remarks, and all forms of harassment, including bullying, are unacceptable. Such behaviour will not be tolerated.

RHS has a range of strategies, which are used to reward and sanction students, to secure acceptable standards of behaviour.

There are times when, despite every effort made by the school, it is necessary to implement the exclusion procedure. The headteacher is empowered to exercise his professional judgement in the use of exclusion. In the most severe cases he will exclude a student permanently.
