Ridgewood High School achieved Science Specialist Status from September 2004, this has enabled us to enhance our Science and Maths provision and to improve teaching and learning across the whole school, and within our wider learning community including our partner primary schools.
Specialist Status brings with it increased funding. This includes a substantial capital grant which, with generous additional sponsorship, will enable us to build an environment centre in the school grounds to benefit our students and to serve as a facility for the wider community.
Further additional funding over the next few years will enable us to put our ambitious plans for whole school improvement into practice, with increased staffing, both teaching and non-teaching, more books and resources, and better ICT equipment and facilities.
In Science, Mathematics and ICT our students enjoy an enriched experience enhanced by a variety of extra-curricular activities, and benefit from a wide range of course provision up to GCSE level.
We deliver courses in the separate sciences of Biology, Chemistry and Physics, Double Balanced Science, and Environmental Science, tailoring our provision to meet the needs and aspirations of each individual student. This, along with successful courses to GCSE in Maths and ICT mean that students leave Ridgewood very well prepared to meet their needs and aspirations in an increasingly scientific and technological world.
